This pack focuses on key 11+ skills for comprehension and creative writing. It features three original ilm stories:
The comprehension section (40 marks) tests understanding of plot, characters, and themes, as well as critical thinking and inference.
The creative writing section (20 marks) offers question choices and encourages imaginative, well-structured writing.
Each paper also includes a detailed mark scheme and example answers. This Advanced Pack is perfect for helping students exceed standard 11+ expectations and prepare at an above-average level.
“I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to their child to aim higher, especially if they're doing well with the Standard Pack papers.”
Each one of our papers is the result of hundreds of hours of interaction and collaboration between experienced education specialists. We have drawn on the feedback of countless teachers, tutors, parents and students to create highly engaging and extremely effective exam preparation materials.
Early practise with our papers will prepare students for what to expect during the 11+ exam.
With every ilm paper they complete, candidates will become more proficient in both Maths & English. Our easy to use guides allow students to practise and progress independently.
Having practised a range of questions and read a variety of example answers, students will sit their papers in confidence on the exam day.
At first we were shocked at how advanced these papers actually were. Then Caleb starting picking up a few of the techniques on how to answer and by the third paper, he was answering the questions in a more confident and articulate manner. I am so proud of the progression he has made. We won't stop practicing - we're aiming quite high with schools!
Aisha has been an incredible tutor for both of our children. She challenges them with tough, thought-provoking questions that really stretch their thinking but always support them with patience and care. Thanks to her guidance, our eldest was accepted into a private school, and our younger child received offers from both St Paul’s and Wilson’s. Aisha knows how to bring out the best in her students—we couldn’t recommend the materials she has created more highly.
Excellent papers. I have recommended on my 11+ mums group and Sophie won't stop talking about how well she feels she is doing. Please keep up the good work.👌
These are so different, unique, just how it is described online. Glad we gave them a go and will most likely be purchasing the multiple choice papers too. 5 Stars
My daughter is in year 9 in Wallington High School for Girls. She used ilm Papers and found them so in depth and similar to the actual test. The mark scheme was really helpful to learn from her mistakes. My son is also using these materials for his preparation.
I have to just say how grateful I am to have met Aisha and now have access to her papers with ilm. My daughter was under-performing in school and all the teachers thought she was way below her age group. Turns out she just needed the right support. Aisha you are amazing, Leyla would not have been able to sit the 11+ without your guidance, she has even attempted the advanced paper and really enjoyed it!
Isabella is approaching her exams with confidence. We would not have been able to do this without Miss Aisha. We have been massively impressed by the papers that Miss Aisha has created. We feel they are at the right level and mirror the actual exams that Isabella will take in September.
The 11+ exam is an entrance examination used in some parts of the UK to select students for admission into grammar schools and other selective secondary schools. Typically taken in Year 6, when students are around 10 or 11 years old, the exam assesses a child’s academic ability in subjects such as: English; Maths; Verbal reasoning; Non-verbal reasoning.
The format and content can vary depending on the region or school, and the results are used to determine whether a student qualifies for a place at a grammar or selective independent school. Preparation often includes practice papers, tutoring, and development of core skills.
In the 11+ exam, children are tested on a range of skills designed to assess their academic potential and readiness for selective secondary education. The specific subjects usually include:
Some schools may also include:
Not all schools test every subject, so it's important to check the exact requirements of the specific school or region.
Ideally, students should begin preparing for the 11+ exam at least 12 to 18 months in advance, typically around Year 4 or the beginning of Year 5. This allows enough time to build core skills gradually and reduce pressure closer to the exam.
However, the exact timing depends on the child’s confidence, ability, and familiarity with the subjects tested. A structured and consistent approach over time, rather than last-minute cramming, tends to produce the best results.

That said, it's never too late to begin. Even a focused preparation in Year 5 can make a difference if the student receives targeted support and practices regularly.
No, it is not necessary for a child to have a tutor to understand and complete ilm prep papers. The papers are specifically designed to be clear, accessible, and student-friendly, with guided explanations, mark schemes, and step-by-step answers included. This means children can work through the material independently or with minimal support from a parent or teacher.
Some families choose to use a tutor for added structure or to target specific weaknesses. However, ilm prep resources are crafted to equip students with the skills and confidence to improve on their own, regardless of whether they have a tutor.
While the school curriculum provides a solid foundation, it often doesn't cover the full scope or style of the 11+ exam. The 11+ assesses a combination of skills, such as Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, and advanced comprehension or problem-solving, that are not always taught explicitly in school.
In many cases, the format, timing, and question types are unfamiliar to students who have only studied through the regular curriculum. That's why targeted 11+ preparation, like ilm's prep papers, helps bridge this gap. These resources introduce exam-style questions and techniques so that students can approach the test with confidence, accuracy, and speed.
